Ayden took his first steps last night! It was a momentous occasion to
say the least (Naylina even shed a few tears). Exciting stuff! We were
fortunate enough to get it on video:
Ayden just took his first steps and we are so proud of him and his first steps are on the 7th of February 2008 at 7:30pm and I cried because I was so proud of him.
We would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season and an exciting new year!
Quick family update:
Ayden is just about 9 months and nearly able to stand on his own! He can point out (using his finger!) every day things like a baby, dog, flower, and so forth when asked. He even started waving "hi" this last week -- he briefly looks at his hand as he cycles his fingers and fist from clinched to open, then shows his hand to you and does the same. He crawls as humanly fast as possible, plays with everything but his own toys, and loves to snuggle soft blankets and stuffed animals.
Naylina is in a first/second grade combination class and doing quite well. The teacher has her doing mostly second grade work, even though she's officially in first grade. Naylina loves the heck out of her brother! They play so cute together -- chasing each other up and down the hallway.
Lorena is gearing up for massage therapy school! She is so excited and looking forward to learning some new massage techniques. If you'd like to help with her education, she needs people (Guinea pigs?) to practice her massaging on.
Josh, just yesterday, finished college! He now has his BS in Business Administration. Josh is working with Pebble Beach's Human Resources department and also still a freelance designer and computer technician.

Hello all! Been awhile since I've posted photos of our new little one. He's growing fast and walking with the help of his parents, able to hold his bottle, can flip from his stomach to back, grabs and studies things, and is almost ready for food that doesn't fit through a nipple! New photos here.
We would like to welcome our first son and second child, Ayden Leo Jacques to our family! He was born Wednesday, March 21st at 2:47pm. He weighed in at 7 pounds 7 ounces with a length of 20 inches ("tall and slender like his Daddy" the doctor told us).
Lorena and I were able to enjoy a round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am today. Specifically, we watched and walked with the celebrities and professionals in the 3M Celebrity Challenge. The 5-hole charity event was held at Pebble Beach Golf Links on holes 1, 2, 3, 17, and 18. What a beautiful experience!
The celebrities were entertaining and the professionals just as well. The commentator and players enjoyed each other's banter, Bill Murray strutted his stuff, Ray Romano loved the crowd, Kevin Costner won the event, George Lopez signed some gear for us, and we loved every bit of it despite the gloomy clouds and light rain. After the long and crowded 18th hole, Lorena and I waited around to meet George Lopez. He was in high demand from the spectators, but we were still able to squeeze in for a quick autograph and photo. (We also met him for a few seconds before the tournament started, and during play, Lorena solicited a hand-wave from George!)
This was our first time attending a pro golf event... we can't wait for next year's AT&T! See you next year George!
Are your children misbehaving when it’s the season to be on their best? Tired of stepping all over those toys? Fed up with cleaning your kid’s bedroom floor?
Change their behavior and motivation with Blendtec ! All you have to do is show the little gremlins these videos on what happens to their favorite toys (and other things like an iPod, die cast cars, Tilapia fish, oysters, golf balls, nutcrackers and more!) when they become defiant. www.willitblend.com
The Jacques’ wish you all a Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
Be safe, have fun, mingle with family, and stay in touch!
My Human Resources Management professor announced an internship with Pebble Beach Company (world-class resorts, golf, and brand) about a month ago. I usually don't get excited about internship announcements at school, but this one certainly sparked my interest. The position required some technical knowledge, in particular, Web site development. DING DING DING! That rang my bell and I immediately applied for the position.
The position is with the HR department where I will ultimately be redesigning the "Career Opportunities" portion of the PBC Web site. I started this week and enjoyed meeting many smiley faces. I've much to learn as PBC is a world of its own! I'm absolutely thrilled to be working for this respected organization and look forward to lifting their career opportunities section to a new level (as well as playing a few rounds of championship golf)!
Our "sex determination" appointment this afternoon was a blast! It was well worth the ever-lasting 45 minute delay in the waiting room. The ultrasound took longer than usual, and two different machines to figure out the sex! The doc said the baby was moving around so much that it was difficult to get a positive result. After about 10 minutes of maneuvering, we were about to head to the other, more sophisticated ultrasound machine when the baby showed its Yoga skills! Lorena and the doc exploded in laughter when the baby spread eagle to clearly reveal himself as a BOY!
We're having a BOY!!!
It was pretty obvious, but we still decided to have the doc write down the sex on a piece of paper (without telling us) and place it in an envelop so that Naylina could read "BOY" or "GIRL" to us when we got home. Lorena taught Naylina how to read the words "boy" and "girl" yesterday so that she could have the honors of presentation. Naylina opened the envelop, sifted through the various ultrasound photographs, located the picture with the sex on it, and asked, "Boy?" Hoorah!!!
Naylina Belle is turning 5 years old on September 27, 2006! 5 years already! Wow! She has grown into a remarkable young girl, full of spunk, charm, independence, and smarts! Lorena and I were truly blessed -- Naylina still remains one of the biggest motivators in our lives. We love you Naylina!
I've sorted through many photos and produced a photo album for everyone to enjoy! Some of the features included in our photo album are: view the latest added photos, rank photos from 1 to 5 stars, search for specific photos, play slideshows, email photos to a friend (e-card), and the ability to add comments to individual photos. Check it out!
